Stanzin Dorjai, an internationally acclaimed filmmaker is committed to telling the stories of his local community and the people of his village in Ladakh. He is the founder of the Himalayan Film House in Leh and has directed some notable feature films and documentaries on regional, national and international issues.
In this digital chapter of #talks, he shares with us his journey from attending a non-traditional school SECMOL Students Education and Cultural Movement of Ladakh to becoming a filmmaker. Stanzin went on to document the life of his sister Tsering to capture the indigenous culture before it is lost. He promotes the concept of ‘Living in the village, not left the village’ by helping the people find sustainable living choices. Stanzin believes that simplicity is the only way ahead and that it is the right time to put all our learnings about practicing minimalism to use.
